Bethany lives her life out loud — as an expert source for international media on transgender issues, as a humor columnist for the Huffington Post, as a talented emcee for events and conferences and even as an award-winning stand-up comedian.
In the Media
The goal of my research is to help – and save – transgender lives. Working with the media increases my chances of making that happen, as my voice becomes enriched and enlarged by theirs. As a former member of the media, I’m always amazed by the power of it – and honored that I get to be a part of it in this way.
On the Stage
At the conclusion of my run as a performer for Disney on Ice, my director summed up how she saw me. “Bethany loves the spotlight – but she’s always happiest when she’s sharing it with someone else.” Being comfortable on stage is a gift, and an admittedly self-serving one at times. Its inherent spotlight to help others, however, is a privilege, and I’ll never forget that.
